This drop scaffold access (for caisson installation) is suspended from the caisson porch steelwork at deck level, the lower access platform being in excess of 17m below the suspension level. Some of the design problems encountered related to the capacity of the porch steelwork, the lack of tying points, the support of the outer edge of the steelwork with guys and the maintenance of clearance for caisson stabbing.
